Die Bibliothèque nationale de France ist ein Jahrhundertprojekt von Mitterand. Er wollte sich auch einmal verewigen in der Stadt, so kommt es einem jedenfalls vor. Dominique Perrault ist der Architekt. 1988 beschlossen, 1996 eröffnet.
Igendwie hat man an manchen stellen das Gefühl als ob die immer noch nicht ganz fertig ist. Das kann aber täuschen, vielleicht sanieren die schon wieder, was ich durchaus bei der Architektur mir vorstellen könnte. Nicht gerade Instandhaltungssparsam.
Aber natürlich eine irres Werk von Perrault. Vier Gebäudeteile, die auf einem riesigen Sockel stehen. Die Lage ist schon ein wenig weiter draussen.
