Dakar

Wir immer erreichen wir das Ziel ganz früh am Morgen. Es ist sehr diesig und das bleibt so den ganzen Tag. Wir liegen mitten in einem relativ großem Hafen aber in der Nähe der Innenstadt.

Beim Aussteigen wird uns schon klar, dass es hier noch ein wenig mehr nach Afrika geht. Wir sind in Afrika. Alles ein wenig chaotisch, wenig gekümmert und viel Elend am Straßenrand.

Nach den ersten Straßen durch das Regierungsviertel geht es raus aus der Stadt zur großen Moschee und dem großen Befreiungsdenkmal am Stadtrand. Das stammt aus 2010 und die Senegalesen sind wirklich stolz darauf. Über die Westküste und den besseren Vierteln geht es zurück zur Fähre und dann nach Goree.

Goree ist die Sklaveninsel schlechthin in Westafrika. Von hier aus wurden die meisten Sklaven in über 300 Jahren nach Amerika verschifft. Goree ist aber auch die Keimzelle Dakars. Hier saßen die Beatzer und Herren Westafrikas. Das waren Portugiesen, Franzosen, Engländer und dann wieder Franzosen. Zwischendurch wohl auch noch Holländer.

Senegal ist 1960 ein eigener Staat geworden, unabhängig von Frankreich. Landessprache ist deshalb auch Französisch. Neben Französisch wird auch Wolof gesprochen. Wolof wird nur im Senegal und Gambia gesprochen. Eine Sprache die seit der Islamisierung im Land gesprochen wird.

Das Land ist sehr arm und das sieht man. Trotz des großen Handelszentrums Dakar ist keine große Aussenhandelswirtschaft vorhanden. Das Land importiert nur. Es gibt keine Schulpflicht! Senegal steht auf Platz 162 des Index der menschlichen Entwicklung. Das ist sehr weit hinten und man ahnt auch warum. Ghana zum Vergleich ist 139.
