Nach Palma de Mallorca kommen wir entlang des Meeres von Osten auf der Autobahn. Schon am frühen Morgen ist auf den Straßen viel los. Wir hatten noch am Morgen auf dem Markt von Campos ein wenig Gemüse eingekauft. Ansonsten ist der Markt nicht so sehenswert, wie wir angenommen hatten.

Wir parken am Hafen und laufen direkt auf die Kathedrale und den Palast zu. Von dieser Seite aus ist die Stadt schon mal sehr beeindruckend. Alles liegt vor einem.
Durch einen schönen Garten besteigt man den Vorplatz der Kirche und muss sich entscheiden ob man als erstes den Palast oder die Kirche betritt. Davor parken die typischen Kutschen, die zur Stadtrundfahrt einladen.

Die Kathedrale von Palma ist eine sehr stattliche Kirche, die seit der Spätgotik von fast allen Baustilen der jeweiligen Zeit verändert wurde. Selbst die Neuzeit hinterlässt Ihre Spuren in einer erst vor Kurzem gestalteten Kapelle. Mitten über dem Altar hängt ein riesiger Baldachin, der von Anton Gaudi zu Beginn des 20 igsten Jahrhunderts gestaltet wurde. Gaudi war von den Kirchenherren beauftragt die Kirche neu auszugestalten.

Wir gehen hinüber in das Schloß und lassen uns dann doch abhalten hineinzugehen, da fast nur Kriegsgerät zu sehen ist. Wir laufen zu den Banys Àrabs (arabischem Bad), dass nur wenig imponiert. Ein wenig klein … aber trotzdem interessant.

Weiter über die vielen Gassen und Stadtpalais zum Placa Major, wo wir gepflegt spanische Kleinigkeiten speisen und uns in der Sonne ausruhen. Der Trubel ist trotz der Jahreszeit schon sehr gross und es macht richtig Spass einfach nur Spazierenzuschauen.
