Die Kunstakademie ist riesig. Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in seiner heutigen Form als Lipsius Bau errichtet. Liegt direkt an den Brühlschen Terassen. Lipsius war der Architekt des Gebäudes, dass sehr klassizistisch und dominant dahersieht.
Die Terassen gehen au einen gewissen Hr. Heinrich von Brühl zurück, der entlang der Elbe im 18. Jahrhundert die Brühlschen Herrlichkeiten bauen liess. Das waren Schlösschen, Terrassen und Gartenanlagen, wie heute auch. Erweiter und ihrer heutigen Fassung wurde das dann im 19. Jahrhundert ergänzt, öffentlich besser zugänglich gemacht und erschlossen.
